Blessings scattered throughout every day. Some are small and hard to see or feel. Some are large and can’t be missed or forgotten. Some are part of everyday life and often taken for granted. Blessings are a gift from God letting us know He loves us. Blessings are a gift of kindness from a neighbor or a stranger.
I look out the window, and I see blessings everywhere, and I wonder how many times we don’t take time to appreciate the little blessings around in nature. I greet my neighbors and remember a blessing like putting up my big blue on trash day, a meal when I was too ill to cook for myself, a ride to the doctor, a visit in the hospital, an offer to help clean my house, a plate of cookies. I go to the store, and someone holds the door open for me, and I know I am blessed.
I was in deep thought one morning about how I could pay back blessings. Blessings are actions or gifts showing deep regard, respect, and love. I have an abundance of God’s blessings. His little ways of saying, “Hey! Lyn, I love you more than you know.”
How do you repay God? How do you repay a gift of kindness from a friend or neighbor?
It is simple. You can’t! Yes, you heard me correctly, you can’t repay a blessing. It doesn’t work that way.
But there is something that you can do – Pay It Forward.
When Jesus said, “Love one another as I have loved you.” He was saying, pay it forward with love and acts of kindness.
Valentine’s day is approaching. A day when most hearts turn to romantic love. It is also a day we can show love with random acts of kindness. Open the door for someone, take a plate of cookies to a neighbor, offer to help someone who has had a recent loss, relieve someone’s burden, start a Pay It Forward line at happy hour at Sonic, call someone who is lonely.
There is someone you know who could use an act of kindness. Everyone should have a blessing on Valentine’s Day.
Your Love In Action Challenge for this week is to Pay It Forward and share what you did in the comments. If you received an act of kindness share that as well and how it made you feel.
The important thing is if everyone shares a blessing this week think of how much more beautiful our little world will become.
Then the love we have for each other is demonstrated by the blessings we give. Our goal is to make Paying It Forward a way of life.
